Elizabeth Schrade "Betty" Coull Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Schrade Coull

81, of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, passed away on October 7, 2013.

Betty was born into the Schrade family on June 20, 1932 in Saratoga Springs, New York. The Schrades had five children, and were well known in Saratoga for their family flower business. Betty was an energetic and athletic child, who loved ice skating and horseracing.

Eager to have new experiences, Betty moved to Southern California in 1955. She soon started working as an administrative assistant at the Garrett Corporation in El Segundo, California. While at Garrett, Betty met Thomas Coull, an aerospace engineer who had recently immigrated to the United States from Australia. After a friendship of several years, the two fell in love and were married on the seventh of May, 1966. Together, they built a beautiful life, filled with great friends and family. Their long marriage was a true partnership and a blessing for both of them.

Professionally, Betty became a Realtor in 1966, specializing in residential properties on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Betty received numerous top-producer awards over her 47-year career in real estate, and was inducted into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame. She loved her career and very much appreciated the network of loyal friends and colleagues that real estate brought into her life.

Betty was an enthusiastic and active member of the Palos Verdes community. She was a founding member of Vistas, and a long time member of the Island View HOA. Following the passing of Tom in 2009, Betty carried on his work as a Director of the First Chance Foundation, which seeks to help deserving South Bay students attend college. Betty actively supported many other local charities and organizations. Betty's passion for community, education, the arts, and science will live on through the Coull Foundation.

Betty is survived by her brother Paul Schrade; her sister, Louise Duff; and many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Chance Foundation, 2 Saddle Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
