Frances G. Raines Obituary
Frances G. Raines

The Lord took Frances home on Friday, October 19, 2012. She was born on April 12, 1920 to Glenn and Nada May Butler in Kansas City. Survived by three sons, Robert, Lawrence and Steven; sister-in-law, Phyllis; nieces, Cheryl Pell and Anita Wardleigh; nephews, Kurt and Bruce Eichelberg and five grandchildren. Her only great grandchild, Max Raines, preceded her in death. Frances attended local schools in Kansas City and received her degree in Psychology at the University of Missouri. She moved with her older sister in 1942. Frances worked at Stats (Union) Stationary on 9th and Hill in Los Angeles. This is where her friend in high school, William Raines, assigned war maneuvers at Palm Springs, began courtship. They married on January 13, 1943. That marriage lasted until William passed away in 1984. Frances lived in Torrance from 1951 until 2010. She taught upholstery at Seaside School, sewing at Mira Costa, and volunteered at the Harbor Regional Foundation facility in San Pedro. She was also active in the American Association of University Women and the Torrance Republican Women's Group. Frances attended Faith Center in Glendale and Grace Lutheran Church in Huntington Beach. She was deeply influenced by the upward look of Christianity and the message of Faith. Our prayers and thoughts are with her as she was healed in Heaven. The memorial service was held on November 9, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church in Huntington Beach, CA 92647, a reception followed. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
