Dr. Frederick Logan Keller was born in Knoxville, TN in 1928 and passed away on August 30, 2012. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1946 and went on to study physics at the University of Tennessee where he received a BS, MS and PhD. He joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he met and married Nettie Joy Harper in 1956. Fred joined The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA at its inception in 1960 and served leading roles in the national space program until his retirement as a senior executive in 1990. They had two children, Kimberly Ann (now deceased) who married George Knight, and Mark Vincent who married Gina. Sadly, Joy died in 1992 after a recurring illness. Fred attended his 50th high school reunion and reconnected with the girl who sat behind him in French class, Carolyn Briggs, also a recent widow. They married in 1996 and alternated between living in Knoxville and Palos Verdes Estates, CA. Fred was welcomed into Carolyna's loving family, including son, Stanley Briggs (Terri), son, Scott Briggs (Cindy) and daughter, Laura (Steve Zachary). Fred was a passionate sports fan especially of the Tennessee Vols. He had a quick wit and could come up with the most painful puns without missing a beat. Fred also leaves his brother, Warren (Carolyn), sister-in-law, Sue Rowan and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation (5:00 to 7:00 PM) and service (7:00 PM) will be at the Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel in Knoxville, TN on September 6, 2012 (www.rosemortuary.com).
