Giuseppina Josephine Cigliano Obituary
Giuseppina Josephine Cigliano
Blessed with over 100 years of life, Giuseppina "Josephine" Cigliano passed away peacefully in her sleep on the evening of January 5, 2014 to join her beloved husband, Antonio (1981), in eternal Life. A family celebration in September 2013 commemorated her Centennial birthday. An immigrant of Ischia, Italy, Giuseppina traveled to San Pedro with her four children to join her husband in 1954. Affectionately known as "Anon" to most, she prided herself on a keen sense of style and love for glamour and elegant fashion derived from her many years as an accomplished seamstress. Her ceaseless amount of energy and activity no doubt attributed to her longevity. Until the day she passed, she kept up with national and international politics, all sports (especially the Clippers), and local San Pedro news via Facebook and the Daily Breeze. Spiritually, Giuseppina was very devoted to Our Lady of Pompeii, and prayed the Rosary to her daily. Extremely proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she prayed constantly for their safety and well-being. She was deeply loved by so many who are left to mourn her passing. Giuseppina is survived by her children; Rose (Mario) Albano, Gaetano "Tommy" (Mary) Cigliano, Maria Letizia (Joe) Chaparro, Augusta (Antonio) Gonzalez, her grandchildren; Michele (Robert) AhKuoi, Rosanna (Walter) Janis, Antoinette (Stephen) Uthoff, Pina (Gavin) McCann, Stephanie (Steve) Robles, Talia Gonzalez, Sergio (Alma) Gonzalez and Matthew Chaparro. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, including sister in-law, Teresa Costa of Ischia, Italy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 2100 S. Western, San Pedro 90732 or Mary Star of the Sea High School Building Fund, San Pedro. You are welcome to share memories or leave the family a message at www.mcnerneysmortuary.com or guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits. A funeral mass will be offered Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, 12:00 pm at Mary Star of The Sea Church. Entombment to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday 4:00 to 8:00 pm with rosary starting at 7:00 pm at
