Gwendolyn Metzger Obituary

February 14, 1925 - November 29, 2010
Gwen was born in Washington state. She moved to California in 1959 and then San Pedro in 1962 upon marriage to Noble Cecil Metzger. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband. Gwen was often in the stands while her grandchildren and great grandchildren played various youth sports around San Pedro, Whittier, Lakewood and Everret (Washington). For several years she volunteered at the Maritime Museum and Whale Society. While her health went down over the past year, she continued to live life and join in family events. Attending her great granddaughter's wedding in July was a must do activity. The family thanks Harbor Terrace staff for helping her enjoy this last year. Special thanks are given to Elizabeth, Leta and Rosa, her caregivers, for the love and care they gave to our mother. Preceded in death by her husband, Gwen is survived by her brother, Robert O'Tyson of Washington; daughters, Karolyn Stanovich of San Pedro, Katherine Heintz of Washington, NanC Scovel of Alaska; and her sons, Norman Metzger of Washington, Michael Galindo of Los Angeles and their spouses, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. The family plans a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Los Angeles Maritime Museum and Little Company of Mary San Pedro would be appreciated. Sorry to see your Mom's obit, but from what you said, you knew it was coming. None the less, that doesn't make it any easier. I'll be thinking of you-God Bless!
