All of us were saddened when the news of Aunt Helen's recent passing reached us. Your Mother was such a special person. Though geographical boundaries did not allow us to spend as much time with her and Onni as we would have preferred, she always welcomed us with open arms and wanted to hear everything going on in our lives. All of us have very fond and cherished memories, both childhood and adult, of those special times when we were able to get together. No matter where the visit, East Coast, West Coast or Family Reunion, Aunt Helen's humor, love of family, love of God and just her love of life will be most remembered. She was one very special lady who will be greatly missed. Prayers from your Florida family ( ourselves, Pat & Bill Baisden, Kathi Diamond, and Herky Rose go out to all of our West Coast cousins. God Bless all of you. It was an honor to have known Helen Pirkkala, your Mother and our Aunt / sister-in-law.

I am so saddened to hear of "Mom's" passing. She was such a wonderful and gracious lady, and I will remember her fondly forever ~ so many great memories ... I will especially miss the visits that Dianne and I always had with her at AHS reunion times. Much love to everyone ~ my heart is with you all.

I want to express my sorrow to the Pirkkala family for the loss of their mother.
We were neighbors for many years in Manhattan Beach and John has been my #2 son for a long time!
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Janice, Long time between visits. I am now living in Mesa, AZ and my cousin Maurine (Maunee) is now in Prescott, AZ. Maunee saw your Mother's obituary in the online Daily Breeze and forwarded it to me this morning (9/29/10).
I am so sorry for the loss of your Mother. My Mom passed away ten years ago in May. We will miss them always, but our memories are ours to hold close.
So sorry to have missed you at the 40th reunion, but saw your photo on Sam's website.
I am good - married, healthy and retired and loving being in the sun once again, after so many years in Portland. I did see Shelley a few years ago when she stopped by to visit. I have not been able to reach her since.
Hope all is well with you and your family, aside from your Mother's passing. You can find me on Facebook (Carol Hall, Mesa, AZ).
Love and Blessings, Carol Hall (Lazarony-Reynolds)
