Helyn Lyn Linden

1926 - 2010

Helyn "Lyn" Linden passed into her new life with our Lord on Saturday, September 25. She was born Helyn Carpenter in Oxnard, California on September 11, 1926. Helyn grew up in West Los Angeles, graduated from University High School and attended Woodbury Business College. She married John Linden in 1947, moved to Manhattan Beach in the early 1950s, and then to the Palos Verdes Peninsula in 1958 where they raised their four daughters. Helyn led an active life, enjoying tennis and dancing well into her 70s. She also loved travelling and saw much of the world with friends and family. In 1980, Helyn and her daughter, Debi, started The Tack Room, a successful equestrian store in Torrance. Helyn also devoted her time as a volunteer for several organizations, from the Girl Scouts when her children were young to hospice and the Armstrong Theater later in life. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Helyn is survived by her husband, John; daughters, Kristen (Tony) Moreno, Teresa (Mario) Barron and Debi (Gary) Casement; grandchildren, Yulia Spearman of Carson, Artyom Spearman of Chico, Tammy (David) Zar and Isabelle Moreno of Rancho Palos Verdes, Courtney Moreno of San Francisco, Mark (Debbie) Barron of Hemet, Marlo (Steve) Aichele, Evan Howell, Eva Barron and Joseph Barron of San Pedro, Erik (Jillann) Casamento of Michigan and Garyn (Tim) Pearson of Fallbrook. She also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held for her at a later date.
