Jack Klasila Obituary

May 10, 1928 - September 12, 2010

Jack passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 2am, he was 82 years old. Jack and his wife Gretchen Klasila have lived in Manhattan Beach for 47 years. He was born in Keewatin, MN to Agnes and Jack Klasila, Sr. He left MN at age 17, to join the Navy during the tail end of WWII. After the war he moved to Southern California to attended Northrop school of avionics. Shortly thereafter he was hired by American Airlines where he worked for 42 years as a flight engineer. Jack had an undying love of flight and would tell stories of his adventures till the end. Overall, Jack was a patient man, a quiet man who would look for the best in his fellow human beings and lived his life by the positive examples he set by his actions. Jack Klasila is survived by his wife, Gretchen; his son, Matt and wife Olivia; his daughter, Kate and husband Ric; and the grandchildren, Ryan, Kevin, Amanda and Sophia. Services will be held at American Martyrs Church on Wednesday, September 22nd at 10am, with reception to follow.
