James (Jim) Burk, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 20, 2014 in Torrance, California. He was born August 31st, 1923 in Los Angeles to Alma and James Burk. He served in the Navy during World War II. At that time he was married, and later had three children - Robert Burk (who preceded him in death), Jean Israel and Michael Burk. After his divorce, he was married to Peg Burk until her death in January, 1996. He is survived by his two remaining children, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his companion of 18 years, Marge Miller, and her children, Karen and Dawn Miller. His passion was model airplanes and gliders. He and his best friend, Michael Adams, constructed a glider. Jim enjoyed building, flying and competing in contests at the flying field in Torrance. He was a proud member of SULA. Jim also enjoyed traveling with Marge. Disney World was an annual event with Marge and her family for the past 10 years. He was a big kid at heart. Jim had kind words and a smile for everyone. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com /obits.
