JoAnne Mohrfeld Obituary

JoAnne Teresa Mohrfeld (Jo), a 44-year resident of Torrance, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 2, 2010. Jo was born in Aitkin, MN on April 27, 1932 to Alfred and Eleanor Cartie. Jo met her husband Les in Denver, CO and was married on September 12, 1953 in Elma, IA. Jo was a loving wife and mother and a great friend to everyone. She was always on the go taking care of someone or something making sure things were organized and done right. And we can't forget two of her greatest passions. Quilting was a hobby she picked up after her children were grown and she spent many an afternoon quilting with the "Crazy Quilters". But her all time favorite activity and greatest passion was playing bridge, which she played for more than 40 years. Jo is survived by her husband, Les; daughter, Cindy; sons, Jeff and Lynn; grandchildren, Kyle (21), Casey (19), Allison (15), Logan (12) and Wyatt (7); sisters, Mary, Marcella and Barbara; brothers, Richard and Michael. Jo was preceded in death by her son, Todd; parents, Alfred and Eleanor; and brother, Gordon. The memorial Mass will be held at St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church in Redondo Beach on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 6:30 p.m., followed by a reception in the St. Lawrence Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Franciscan Conventual Friars, P.O. Box 840, Arroyo Grande, CA 93421. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
