John Cigliano Obituary
John J. Cigliano
It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of John, who passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2012. He was born on June 1, 1931 and was a lifetime resident of San Pedro, CA. John Cigliano exemplified kindness, generosity and caring for others. As owner of State Fish Company, the fruits of his years of hard work were always shared with those in need, touching the lives of family and friends alike for years to come. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter, enjoying his time with his good friends. His quick wit, sense of humor and eternal smile will surely be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. John not only served his community but his country as well, serving in the Navy during the Korean War. He continued the legacy of his father, helping to build State Fish Co. into a major fish distributor. He worked hard but always put others first, family and friends alike. If you needed help, John would never turn his shoulder to you. He was a friend to all in the community and his loss will be deeply felt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Mary Cigliano and his brother, Anthony. John is survived by his wife of forty eight years, Libby; son, Paul; daughter, Marianne; brother, Bobby (Linda) Cigliano; aunt, Rose Deluca; sister-in-law, Mary (Vince) DiLeva; brother in law, Frank Colonna; nieces and nephews, Anthony (Kim) DiLeva, Lisa (John) Morreale, Gino (Sarah) DiLeva, Gerald (Sandra) Cigliano, Anthony (Cathy) Cigliano, Gennaro Cigliano, Michael (Sarah) Cigliano, John (Jill) Cigliano, Vince Cigliano, Marissa (Tom) Neal; great-nephews and niece, Nickolas, Makayla and Matthew who were part of his everyday life. He is also survived by numerous cousins. A special thank you to Dr. Vu Phan, M.D. and staff, the nurses at Long Beach Community Hospital Infusion Center, and his caregivers, Mauricio and Danny. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in San Pedro, with a rosary service starting at 9:30 a.m. and with Mass being offered at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
