Josefina Santa Cruz Valdez
Our dear sweet mother passed away in her San Pedro home surrounded by her loving family on June 29, 2012. She was born on March 5, 1929 in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico. She married her childhood sweetheart, Alfonso, in 1946 and immigrated to the United States, where together they raised five children. Josefina was a devout Catholic who was strong in her faith. She worked on Terminal Island for Pan Pacific Canneries for 25 years. She was a warm, devoted, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Alfonso Valdez, son, Alfonso Valdez (Elisa), daughters, Dolores Valdez-Ybarra, Gloria Valdez, Rebecca (Becky) Toscano, Lucy Valdez-Quijada, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, many godchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. She will be deeply missed and will forever live in all of our hearts. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 5 -7p.m. followed by a Vigil Service at 7p.m. at McNerney's Mortuary Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, July 6, 2012, 10:00a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park.
