Josephine Paturzo Obituary

Born on April 23, 1928 in Bakersfield, CA. She lived with her parents, Freddrick and Mary Louise Brown in San Pedro, CA. During WWII she was a member of the Army Air Forces Ground Observer Corps of the IV Fighter Command. She graduated from San Pedro High School in 1946. Throughout her life she had a passion for music and loved playing the piano. In 1947 she became a member of the Eastern Star. Josephine worked as a long distance operator for Pacific Bell. She met a handsome Italian man, Christopher Paturzo, whom she married on May 15, 1948. She loved to do needlecrafts. She was a member of the American Cetacean Society with her husband. She enjoyed traveling to Big Bear Lake as often as possible with the family to relax at her Sugarloaf Cabin. After retirement she enjoyed the Senior Citizens Group at Peck Park with her husband, participating in meetings, events and taking numerous trips. She loved being with her family. Josephine had four children, Christopher Paturzo II, Geraldine Louise Bess, Melina Marguerite Blackhurst, and Giovanna Marie Fleming. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. A vigil service will be held today at 7:00pm at McNerney's Mortuary Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be offered Wednesday, 10:00am at Mary Star of the Sea Church.
