Julia Constance "Joy" Strickfaden

"Joy" Julia Constance Strickfaden, a 37-year resident of Palos Verdes Estates, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010 in Palos Verdes Estates. Born in Los Angeles, CA, Julia was 86 when she died. Julia was a member of St. Lawrence Martyr Church where she played the organ for various church services. Julia performed in various professional motion pictures, musical stage performances, played piano for various orchestras, and taught piano lessons for more than 50 years. She also was a legal secretary and office manager. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; daughter, Shelley Rowell; son, Thomas Martin Strickfaden II; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. She is predeceased by her son, Tracy Strickfaden. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with her rosary at 7:00 p.m., both at Rice Mortuary in Torrance. The funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Redeemer Chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery, December 1, 2010, 10:00 a.m. with committal to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
