Julie Wilma (Treharne) Rajan Obituary
Julie Wilma Rajan
(née Treharne)

Julie Wilma Rajan (née Treharne) was born in Sydney, Australia on February 22, 1951. She lived in Sumatra, Bombay, Istanbul, Switzerland, Nairobi, London, Sydney, Melbourne, and for the last twenty years, in Palos Verdes, California. Julie excelled at everything she endeavoured to do and was an accomplished philanthropic fundraiser, chef, gardener, and hostess of world-renowned parties. Julie's professional pursuits ranged from museum curator, interior decorator, to executive director of a number of non-profit organizations in Melbourne and Los Angeles. Throughout her life, she was civic-minded and fought for the causes in which she believed. Julie had a special talent for making and maintaining lifelong friendships, as demonstrated by her famous annual Christmas letter, which she sent to hundreds of friends, living in all corners of the globe. In addition to her many significant professional accomplishments, Julie's greatest legacy is the way she brought people together and forever touched their lives. Julie fought a three-year battle with cancer with unwavering courage, grace, and - best of all - humour. Julie is loved dearly by her friends and family around the world, including her husband, Salim Rajan, daughter and son, Claire and Alexander, mother, Joyce Treharne, four siblings - Andrew, Lisa, Adam, and Nik, and son-in-law, Fernando Amarillas. A celebration of Julie's life will be held on June 12, 2012 at The Wayfarers Chapel at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, tribute donations may be made to the League of Women Voters of California.
