On October 4, 2012, June Anderson was called to her eternal home with the Lord at the age of 82 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She will be deeply missed by her family and many dear friends who remain amazed that her exuberance and generous spirit never waned even as her health failed. After graduating from Santa Monica High School, June married Fred Anderson and they welcomed their first daughter, Christine, in 1949. The family enjoyed being enthusiastic members of the Marina Boat and Ski Club, and June became known for creating memorable events. When their second daughter, Jill, arrived 14 years later, the fun and friendship continued at Fred and June's second home at Lake Havasu. June dearly loved her two daughters and thoroughly enjoyed her years as a homemaker. After the girls became adults, she started taking college classes and started a business called JUNIQUE. While June always exuded creative energy, it was particularly evident in her interesting paintings; beautiful dried flower arrangements; imaginative gift baskets; novel handmade pillows; and original embroidery designs. Although Fred and June divorced after 29 years of marriage, they maintained a friendship until Fred's death in 2008, allowing them to celebrate many special occasions with their beloved grandchildren, Nicole and Luke. These special family times, highlighted by very merry Christmases, were memorialized throughout June's cherished home in pictures and other mementos of those she loved. A celebration of June's bold life will take place on Friday, November 2, at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Brethren Church, Long Beach. The church is located at 3601 Linden Avenue, one block west of Atlantic Avenue at 36th Street in Long Beach, CA. For more information, please call 714-350-3310. Please sign the guestbook
