Lois Pranin passed away on April 21, 2013 in her home in Rancho Palos Verdes. She was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Pranin and her parents, Merle and Helen Maddy. She is survived by her son, Dr. Ronald Pranin, Rodney (Jennifer) Pranin Esq.; her grandchildren, Robert (Elyse) Pranin III, Richard Pranin, Courtney (Phil) Vallejo, Ashley (Dustin) Gohlich; her step-grandchildren, Jenelle Carver, Todd Miller and Tyler Miller; as well as nine great-grandchildren. After graduating from Narbonne High School in 1936, Lois went to Long Beach Business School for a secretarial program. In 1941 she married Robert Pranin, who became a flight instructor in the U.S. Navy. Together, they traveled and lived in various naval stations, until the birth of their first son in 1944, at which point Lois returned to Torrance, CA. After the war, Lois and Robert made their home in Lomita, following the birth of their second son in 1947. They moved to San Pedro in 1955 where Lois would remain there until her death. Lois worked and retired from Van Camp Seafood in 1977. In the years following her retirement, she spent several months in Hawaii. Over the next decades, she was an avid traveler, traveling through the U.S., Europe and Asia. Lois was a member of the Lomita Eastern Star, the Opti-Mrs. Club, the 259th Pl. P.T.A, and Beachcombers Club. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army. Lois has been an active member of First Presbyterian Church in San Pedro since 1955. Memorial services will be held on April 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 731 S. Averill Ave. San Pedro, 90732.
