Marion Wetherbee Jack Bell, of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, born on August 17, 1927 in Wichita Falls, Texas, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who was an aerospace engineer and pioneer in Apollo and Space Shuttle design at North American Aviation and Rockwell, Int'l, died on Saturday, June 23, 2012, after battling Parkinson's Disease and cancer. He graduated from the US Merchant Marine Academy-Kings Point in 1949. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in San Pedro, a Shriner, a Mason, and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and is a Past Worthy Patron of the San Pedro Chapter. He was predeceased by his parents, Marion Wetherbee Bell and Mamie Louise Verdie Carpenter Bell and his wife, Janell MacDonald Bell; and he is survived by his sister, Dr. Virginia Joan Bell, his six children: Jan Jones (Jerry), Jack Bell (Linda), David Bell, Heather Wheeler (Gerry), Rebecca Butler (Steve), Diana Bacheller (John); and by his eighteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Hills Mortuary in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, with burial immediately following.
