Marjorie Elise Gremmel
Age 92, passed away suddenly on November 28, 2012. She was born in New York, raised in New Jersey, and moved to California in 1948. She was a resident of Manhattan Beach for many years, and was living in Hawthorne at the time of her death. She was the mother of 4, grandmother of 2, and for those who called her Mrs. G, a mentor, friend, and counselor. She lead Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, was a seamstress, cook, chauffeur, PTA mom, tutor, and never-ending cheer leader for her children. She never refused anyone a meal or helping hand. She inspired so many with a deep faith in people, sense of right and wrong, and personal responsibility. She was predeceased by her sons, Erik Gerhardt, and Bruce Gerhardt. She is survived by her daughters, Joan Gerhardt of Torrance, CA, Nancy Gerhardt Mansell Rock of Austin, TX; her grandsons, Ben Mansell of San Francisco, CA and Jos Mansell of Brooklyn, NY. The world would be a better place if there were more like her. Her kindness and zest for life touched more than she ever knew. Because she was a champion for the mentally ill, in lieu of flowers, donations to NAMI (Nami.org) would be a wonderful way to remember her. Please sign the guestbook at dailybreeze.com/obits.
