Maureen Katherine Bellettini (nee O'Brien)
Passed away on November 8, 2012 of pulmonary fibrosis. She was born on October 14, 1945 in San Pedro, California, the first child of Margaret McCann O'Brien of Brooklyn, New York and James O'Brien of Bay Bulls, Newfoundland, Canada. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Dr. Arturo G. Bellettini; her children, Christine (Timu), Richard and Kelly; her brother, James (Lhyn) and sister, Gloria Garcia (Joseph); along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Maureen loved to travel and visited Newfoundland, Ireland, Peru and Europe. She had the opportunity to live all over the U.S., Puerto Rico and Spain but she was most at home by the sea. She was an artist and loved to paint landscapes and decorate (and re-decorate) the family home with style and care, Daily breakfast with her husband, drive-in theatres, shopping trips, pizza parties, treasure hunting in second hand stores and spa days; these were a few of her favorite things. A lifelong redhead, with a personality to match, who opened her heart to people, always providing a shoulder to cry on, she took people for who they were. She always listened attentively, but she did not tolerate meanness in others. She will be missed more than words can say. Visitation will be held at McNerney's Mortuary on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, 2-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be offered on Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at Mary Star of the Sea Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City. Donations in her honor may be made to Maria Rebecca and Maureen Bellettini Research Scholarship in the Physical Sciences at University of California Irvine, (949) 824-8111 or email@example.com.
