Maurice V. Taylor

July 11, 1919 –
January 17, 2014

Maurice Taylor passed away peacefully at his home in Redondo Beach, California, on January 17, 2014. He was born in Gateshead-on-Tyne, England, and served in the Royal Air Force from 1935 through 1947. He served during World War II, and fought in the Battle of Britain. Subsequently he worked as an aeronautical engineer in England, Canada, the US and Australia. He retired from Northrop Corporation in 1987. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, after 60 years of marriage. He is survived by his sister, Rose Pearson; his daughter, Sheila Pell (Doug); his son, Barry Taylor; his four grandchildren: Cara Clark, Lee Taylor, Evan Pell and Kent Pell as well as nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. With his English accent, Maurice was always charming, polite, and respectful and he had a great sense of humor which we all enjoyed. He was loving, caring, giving and always started out each day to do at least one act of kindness. Above all, he cherished each member of his family and always put them first. A memorial service for Maurice will be held on Wednesday, February 5th, at 1:00 pm at the Neighborhood Church, 415 Paseo Del Mar, Palos Verdes Estates. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Western Museum of Flight, 3315 Airport Drive Red Baron #3, Torrance, CA 90505, with the notation "in memory of Maurice Taylor".
