Maxene Eidson Obituary

Maxene was a long-time resident of the South Bay. After a 5-year battle with lymphoma, she passed away peacefully on November 25, 2010 in Torrance. Born in Independence, KS on August 14, 1938, her family moved to Glendale, CA when she was 4. She married Scotty Eidson in August 1957 and they moved to Torrance in 1960. Very active in the community, she was president of both Fern-Greenwood PTA and Torrance Central Little League Women's Auxiliary, and Bethel Guardian of IOJD Bethel #245. She also worked for 23 years as the administrative assistant for the Torrance Police Officers Association (TPOA), retiring in December 2000. Gifted with an ability to remember details about people's lives, she always had a genuine interest in those she knew. Maxene was very talented at sewing, crocheting, cooking and gardening. Maxene is survived by her 3 children, Stevan Eidson (Dianne), Michele DeYoung (Ken) and Ernest Eidson, as well as her three granddaughters, Natalie DeYoung, Rena DeYoung Alviso (Anthony) and Katie DeYoung. A memorial service will be held December 11, 2010. Please contact the family at [email protected] if you wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.

To the Eidson Family. I am so sad to hear of your loss. I have great memories of my time spent with Maxene at the little league field when our boys were younger. I was blessed to continue our friendship and saw her often at Costco.

You are all in my heart and prayers. May God Keep you all close at this very hard time!

Dear Michele and family, Your Mom was the greatest best friend a person could every have, she was always there for me in the great times and some sad times. Could remember any dates in both of our lives, great cookie maker, great listener, wise, fun loving just the best, I will miss her so very much. She loved you all so much and was so very proud of you all. It is such a blessing for me to know that we will see each other again in heaven. My deepest sympathy to you all Love Suzy
