Pat Scognamillo Obituary

A lifelong resident, born in San Pedro on May 20, 1942, passed away October 1, 2010 while on a hunting trip doing one of the many things he enjoyed in life. He graduated from San Pedro High School in 1960. Pat was a long standing, proud member of ILWU Local 13 and 63, retiring one year ago. Pat's first love was to his family, which he cherished each and every day. He was a work hard-play hard man. He pursued his interests of fishing and hunting, giving and spending hours mentoring his son and grandson with all the experience he had attained. He never missed a hunting season, enjoying the comradery with family and friends. Pat excelled in his hobby of woodwork. He enjoyed putting on pizza parties for all to enjoy. He also enjoyed trips to Italy with friends in 2006 and 2008. He is preceded in death by his father, John. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Debbie; his son, Bobby; grandson, Nico; and daughter, Diana Hankins. Also survived by his mother, Faelina; sister, Frances; sister-in-law, Mary Ferara; brother-in-law, John (Neva) Ferrara and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be greatly missed by all. A memorial mass will be offered on Friday, October 8, 2010, 10:30am at Mary Star of the Sea Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 1710 Gilbreth Rd, Burlingame, CA 94010-1795. Words can not express the sadness and emptiness with the loss of our dad, Pat. We have shared many fond memories with the Scognamillo family...Christmas, Super Bowl, pizza parties, weddings, to say the least. Pat's smile, as well as his sense of humor, could light up any room. He was a very loving person and always made you feel at home and welcome. Pat's dedication to his family, friends and colleagues is inexpressible. He was a man with a huge heart who had so much to share and teach. We are very fortunate to have had the opportunity to know and be a part of Pat's life.
Dad we will miss you tremendously!
We love you,

Peter & Filomena Peyton
