Born Patricia Marilyn Mong on September 27, 1941 in Los Angeles, California, passed away March 24, 2012 in Apple Valley, California. Patricia was the only child of Edmond and Marie Mong. She was raised in Long Beach, before her dad's job at Standard Oil took the family to Iraq, where she attended the American Community School in Beirut, Lebanon. When the family returned from the Middle East, she continued her studies at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, where she graduated in 1959. Pat enrolled at Long Beach State University, but decided to postpone college to raise her two sons. She worked for the Redondo Beach Unified School District for 30 years, retiring in 2003 to live in Apple Valley, California. She felt at home living in the High Desert. She loved the dry air, open spaces and spectacular sunsets. Pat was a kind, gentle woman. She will be missed by all those who had the privilege to have known her. She is survived by her sons, Robert and William; her grandchildren, Lucas and Alexander; and her longtime companion, Andreas Tsipouroglou. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Halverson, Stone & Myers Mortuary in Torrance. Please sign the guestbook
