Paul Wacker Obituary

Paul Frederick Wacker, 96, of Redlands, CA passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, in Redlands. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Wacker; grandson, Paul Maxim Wacker and granddaughter, Catherine Fatima Wacker, all of Redlands. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at Bobbitt's. Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery, San Bernardino. He received his undergraduate degree from Ohio State University and his PhD in mathematical physics from Catholic University in Washington, DC. He was a theoretical physicist on the Manhattan project. He then became involved in electromagnetic theory. He received the Department of Commerce Silver Medal for his career at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and an Antenna Measurement Techniques Association Distinguished Achievement Award for his career achievements. He also participated in numerous international scientific exchange programs and was a visiting professor in Leuven, Belgium, after retirement from NIST. He had been with NIST for about 40 years, first in the Washington, DC area, and then in Boulder, CO. After two years in Leuven, Belgium, he moved to Torrance, CA, and then to Plymouth Village in Redlands, CA. On line condolences may be left at www.bobbittchapl.com or at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
