Ralph John Melgoza, Sr.
Ralph John Melgoza, Sr., 64, of Wilmington California, passed away surrounded by his family on March 30, 2013. He was born in Wilmington on January 9, 1949 to Vicente and Carmen Melgoza. Ralph graduated from Banning High School. He often spent summers with family and working on Catalina Island. Ralph was a second generation Longshoreman working as a Crane Operator for APL and TraPac. Ralph was a lifetime member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, Local 13 and had a passion for music and handicapping horse races. He is survived by his children, Ralph Jr. (Cynthia), Michelle (Jorge) Melgoza-Marquez, Richard and Phillip; grandchildren, Brittney, Holden, Cassandra, Ryan, Daniel, Xavier, Christian, Arrianna, Gabriel, Jaylene, Phillip and Jizelle; siblings Jimmy, Bobby, Danny and Rachel Vicencio. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, Vicente and Carmen; brothers, Vincent "BB" and Michael. Funeral services will be at McNerney's Mortuary in Wilmington on Thursday, April 11th from 5-9 p.m., rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral mass at St. Peter and Paul Church on Friday, April 12th at 11 a.m. Interment to take place at All Souls Cemetery.
