Richard Ernest Laraba II Obituary
Richard Ernest Laraba II Also known as the King

Born January 16, 1957 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He passed away November 23, 2012 at the age of 55, surrounded by family and friends camping at Bolsa Chica State Beach. Whether you knew Richard for a short time or most of your life he made you feel like family. His bigger than life personality put a smile on everyone's face. He was so proud of his stories, although they were long, by the end everyone was on the ground laughing. Survived by his wife of 28 years, Karen, along with son, Brennen, 22, daughter, Kaileia, 19, and chocolate lab King, father Richard, mother Elsie, sister, Kathryn, and nephews Kyle and Tyler. Richard enjoyed spending Thursdays with his boys at a "teamer" AKA a local bar, golfing, watching sports (huge Laker and UCLA fan) and spending time in the backyard grilling up some burgers for family and friends. Richard graduated from Lawndale High School, Class of 1974, and went on to work in construction as a superintendent watching over and running projects. Richard supported his children while they played many different sports including soccer, basketball, and hockey. He never missed a single game. The kids along with the crowd could hear him cheering on the sidelines. Brennen and Kaileia will never forget the wonderful life lessons their father taught them and his memory will live on in the hearts of family and friends forever. The viewing for Richard will be held at Gamby Mortuary on Friday November 30th, between 4pm and 8pm. 25001 Narbonne Avenue Lomita, CA 90717. Services will be held at 1pm Saturday, December 1, at St. Margaret Mary Church, 25511 Eshelman Avenue, Lomita, CA 90717. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Laraba family, c/o Karen Laraba, 2440 W. 250th Street, Lomita, CA 90717. Please sign the guestbook at www.amgamby.com.
