Rick was born in the City of Los Angeles to his loving parents Floyd and Virginia Olson. He attended Mount Carmel High School and was a graduate with honors of the class of '51.
Rick served in the US Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corpral. After receiving Associated Arts degree from El Camino College Rick was hired by Dun & Bradstreet as a Business Analyst.
At the height of his career, he received the 1978 Presidential Citation. During the last seven years with D&B, Rick was also assisting the Special investigation Bureau of the LA CO Sheriffs and received a special citation from Captain Ronald C. Black for many years of support. After 30 years Rick retired as a Senior Business Analyst.
While being a member of the Redondo Beach Elks lodge for many years he was appointed in 1991 to be Exalted Ruler and was witnessed by a very proud Pop Floyd Olson. Rick enjoyed reading, gardening, playing bridge, bird watching and laughing.
Whether you knew Rick as a co-worker, friend, Lodge Brother - Sister or as part of the family you will never forget his cheerful smile and heart of gold. Rick is survived by his brothers, Bill and Bob Olson; his sister, Ginger Valdespino; his wife, Kathryn; his son, David; his step-daughter, Janet King; and his step-son, Paul Decker. Visitation will be at 11:00am to 1:00pm in rooms A/B, Forest Lawn, 1500 East San Antonio Drive, Long Beach, CA 90807 on December 16, 2013.
Funeral Service will be at the Memorial Chapel at 2:00pm at Forest Lawn, 1500 East San Antonio Drive, Long Beach, CA 90807 on December 16, 2013.
