Roy Vander Brug

Roy Vander Brug, the beloved husband of Linda "Franki" Vander Brug was taken from us unexpectedly on February 21, 2013. Roy was born on April 1, 1939 in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, the son of Carl and Alice Vander Brug. Roy graduated from Lutheran High School in Los Angeles and was a long time resident of San Pedro. He retired from Coburn Optical in 1999 and owned a small business with life long friends, Hank Gelderman and Ray Olivas for 29 years. In life Roy put his wife, Franki and family first but made time for other interests including; bowling, Nascar, PBR, whale watching, traveling, camping in their RV and riding his off road vehicle. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to Arizona too spend time with children and grandchildren as well as traveling for vacations with extended family in other states. Roy is survived by his wife, Franki; sister; Dori Katz; children, Jill, Brian and Bruce; his stepchildren, Portia Soto, Porter Mantch and Christine Morris. Roy also had many grand children. Roy was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a man everyone counted on to "get the job done". He was a kind man who made many lasting friendships throughout the years and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at Wayfarers Chapel, 5755 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275 on his birthday, April 1st 2013 at 4:00 pm.
