Susan Gassett Bigham

Susan passed away suddenly March 4, 2013 in San Francisco of a heart attack. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1969 and grew up in Palos Verdes attending Dapplegray Intermediate School and Miraleste High School where she was always active in sports and on the Drill Team and Pep Squad. She was a volunteer with Ticktockers of National Charity League and was a member at St. Peters by-the-Sea Presbyterian Church and sailed as a member of the Los Angeles Yacht Club. Susan attended UCSB affiliating with Alpha Phi sorority and majoring in Physiology and Cell Biology. After college she worked at Genentech in San Francisco. She married Dane Bigham in 1997 and they created a wonderful home in Walnut Creek. Susan liked to talk to everybody, make friends with everyone and had an interest in everything. She especially liked gardening and was deeply involved in helping her local schools raise funds for science, music, P.E., and other programs. Susan was a Boy Scout pack leader, Little League coach, PTA President, board member of the Walnut Creek Education Fund. She leaves husband Dane Bigham, two sons: Jason (12) and Graham (10), parents Linda and Will Gassett of Palos Verdes, grandmother Margaret Glass of Indianapolis and grandmother Mary Holleman of San Pedro. A memorial will be held on March 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Walnut Creek, CA. Because she was so passionate about education, we request, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Walnut Creek Education Fund at: WCEF K-12, Susan Bigham Memorial, P.O. Box 186, Walnut Creek, CA 94597. See comments
