Thomas Howell Obituary

Thomas Howell was born to the delight of F.A. and Dorraine Howell on December 4, 1950 at Centinela Hospital in Inglewood. Tommy thrived under the care of his amazing mother for the vast majority of his life and exceeded the life expectancy of someone with Down Syndrome, living to the age of 60! He attended the South Bay Vocational Center for over ten years and thoroughly enjoyed "The Wild Wild West". He passed peacefully in his sleep at a group home to join his father, F.A., and brother, Jim on the evening of December 19, 2010. Tommy is survived by a lone star heroine, his equivalent of James West, his dear mom, Dorraine. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.

I grew up in the same North Redondo Beach neighborhood as Tommy and I knew the Howell family very well. Tommy was always a sweet and loving boy and despite his special needs, he was always included in all of the Howell family activities. His mother was Tommy's shining star. Dorraine Howell dedicated her life to her son's well being. Dorraine's consistent and loving care for her son will long be remembered. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tommy's Mom at this time.
