Willard H. Finney
Willard H. Finney, 73, of San Pedro, CA a true lover of all things Lighthouse departed to the 'Great Lighthouse in the Sky' on December 21, 2013.
Willard was born March 4, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduating High School Willard enlisted in the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Mac Arthur (upper reservation) where he met and married Susan Cheaney, a Lifeguard at Gaffey St. Pool. Willard was a proud Teamster and worked as a Weber's Bread Delivery Man servicing many of the local grocery stores. He had many interests which included playing volleyball at Cabrillo Beach and being a Cabrillo Beach Polar Bear on New Year's Day until he was no longer able to access the water. Willard had a special love for classic cars and was extremely proud of his red 1986 Chevy Silverado truck and 1952 Chevy Deluxe. Other interests included frequenting car shows, garage sales, swap meets, collecting screw drivers and listening to the oldies. He had several friends and enjoyed gathering with them at The Pacific Diner for breakfast or dinner at the Lighthouse Cafe then stopping on his way home at the Pt Fermin Market where he was treated so special.
Preceded in death by his parents William and Lois Finney and Brother Thomas Finney.
His loving memories will be cherished by his "Soul Mate" Susan Finney, Children, Kim (Ken) Howard, Lori (Gary) Valdez, and William "Tiger" (Lisa) Finney. Grandchildren, David (Megan) Miller, Racquel Quintero, Danielle Finney, Alexis (Angel) Maae, Ryan (Jackie) Finney, Ashley Tago, Ashley Valdez, Gary Valdez, Jr., Melanie Howard and Kenny Howard. Great Grandchildren, Devean, Andrew, Adrianna, Alexandria, Ella, Elena, William, Lyla, Taylor Lillian. Sisters, Roxanna (William) Tate and Linda (Dr. Ray) Prible, Sister in Law Ann Finney and Aunt Dee Dee Patterson as well as numerous Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
Your suffering is over, the mourning begins and the memories become deep and precious and life continues. Thank you for knowing when to be tough and when we needed to be hugged. Thank you for working hard to provide for your family, teaching us to be responsible people and how to persevere under great challenges. We love you and will miss you but you will forever be with us.
A private memorial will be held at a later date as per Willard's wishes. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made to the Cabrillo Beach Boosters -Lighthouse Fund c/o Allan Johnson at 3800 Stephen M. White Dr, San Pedro, CA 90731.
