Yvonne Florence Daniels

1926 - 2010

Yvonne passed away peacefully in her home the morning of September 23, 2010 after losing a battle to lung cancer. She was born November 11, 1926 in Blackwell, OK. Her parents moved west to Long Beach when Yvonne was young and she lived there for the next 50+ years. She graduated from Polytechnic High School of Long Beach. After the passing of her late husband, Dr. Edgar E. Daniels, almost 40 years ago, Yvonne went back to school attending Long Beach City College to obtain her medical assistance degree. She then spent many years working for Dr. and Mary Kent of Long Beach. Later she worked for her church and relocated to Gardena 10 years ago to be closer to family. Yvonne enjoyed helping others and having a good time. She was an attractive woman and an amazing ballroom dancer in her prime. Yvonne is dancing in Heaven now. Through the years she traveled some with friends and family. Just about a year ago she made her last trip which was to New Orleans, LA with her daughter and family. Though she was getting around in a scooter and moving more slowly - she loved the city, the music and especially the food. She always enjoyed all holidays and had a special outfit with hat for each occasion or party. Yvonne is survived by her daughters and son, Kathe (Jim), Joan (Laurie), Janie (Rick) and Richard (Kitty); 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Her children would like to thank her primary caregivers, Nicole and Sheila, along with the wonderful nurses and assistants at Vitas Hospice, all of whom helped make Mom's last 6 months more comfortable and happy. The family would also like to thank Pastor Gordon for his many visits with her and his caring peaceful spirit. A Memorial and Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 11 am at Garden West Estates, 17900 S. Western Ave, Gardena in the Rear Clubhouse.
