Helen passed away on August 9, 2010 at the age of 92. Born in 1917 to parents Charles and Mary Sears, she was one of 9 children raised in Iowa. She migrated to California, worked in various jobs and eventually landed at Lockheed. Married to Robert Lyon in 1949, they shared many adventures together. He passed away in 1972. Helen married Don Houghton in 1977 with whom she traveled to 48 states and resided in Manhattan Beach. Don passed away in 1992. Helen was a long time member and past house chair of Manhattan Beach Neptunian Club and the Westchester Elks. An active volunteer, she also won National Sales Person of the Year with Tupperware. She is survived by her nieces, Grace Gieger and Pat (Joe) Doyle; nephews, Clifford (Polly) Nentwig and Bud (Ginger) Nentwig; her wonderful care giver, Gladiz Keneker; many friends; and neighbors. Helen was a stylish, beautiful lady with a great sense of humor who led a full, active and wonderful life, serving as an inspiration to many. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
