Grace Soracy Best

Beloved mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend passed away March 17, 2014. Grace was born August 5, 1927, in Queens, NY. After attending Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn, she moved to Los Angeles in 1951, living and working in the Wilshire District. She married Alan Best three years later, they moved to Torrance, and she devoted herself to raising their three daughters. Later, she re-entered the workforce, becoming a senior accountant at The Salvation Army Territorial Headquarters in Rancho Palos Verdes, retiring in 1996. Faith was always vital to Grace. The family was active at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Redondo Beach. She was also involved in Bible Study Fellowship, Christian Business Women of the South Bay and Christian Women's Ministries. She later became a member of Rolling Hills Covenant Church, serving on the Stewardship Commission Board from 1996-1999. She was a compassionate listener, a lighthearted and gentle spirit who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Grace is survived by daughters Linda (Steve) Adams, Susan Best and Grace (Jeff) Taylor; granddaughters, Natalie and Rachael Taylor, Claire and Maddie Adams; and sister Edna (Bob) Smith. Services are April 6th at 1:00 pm, Green Hills Memorial Chapel, Rancho Palos Verdes. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
