Richard was born November 11, 1960 and raised in San Pedro, California. He was a proud third generation ILWU Longshoreman Local 13. Two Children Sonia Alvarez and Richard Alvarez III; three grandchildren Natalie, Robert and Joseph. Seven nieces and nephews, Leticia (Tish), Joseph, Ava, Sofia, Jasmine, Camille, Russell, and five great-nieces and nephews, Jesse, Jasmine, Elizabeth, Leia, Pete and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great friends. He was a die-hard Dodger fan and enjoyed watching and attending the games and vigorously cheering "Go Blue" "Bleed-Blue"! He loved the "Anaheim" Angels, Washington Redskins, and "Los Angeles" Rams. One of his most favorite activities was attending "Dodger/Angel Freeway Series" games with friends and family. If you attended a game with Richard, you witnessed Richard always having his small radio with him. He refused to listen to the announcers at the game and preferred Vin Scully and others. He was a walking sports almanac and knowledgeable of every player/team statistic. A Memorial service will be held 12:00p.m. Thursday May 22, 2014 with visitation starting at 11:30a.m. at McNerney's Mortuary. Please sign the guestbook at mcnerneysmortuary.com or dailybreeze.com
