Gerald was born to Lucy and Ralph Galante in San Pedro, California on May 8 1930. He lived in San Pedro until moving to Rancho Palos Verdes in 1973, where he built his dream home. It was in this home, with his wife by his side, where he passed away on May 26, 2014. Gerald suffered a severe stroke 20 years ago which left him unable to care for himself. His loving wife, Josephine, was his primary caregiver before cancer took his life. He recently celebrated a farewell, 84th birthday party, surrounded by family and friends. He graduated from San Pedro High School in the Summer Class of 1948. Gerald was a commercial fisherman until being drafted to serve his country in Korea. Upon returning home, he continued fishing. He and his father bought their own boat and proudly worked together on the "Ralphy Boy." After many hard but enjoyable years on the water, he started his own business, Mobile Brake Supply. Gerald loved baseball, woodworking, and spending time with his family. Gerald was a much loved husband, father, uncle, brother, father-in-law, grandfather, and nephew. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Josephine (Morovich): son Gerald Galante Jr.:daughters Donna-Marie (Rob) Ericson, Patricia (Eric) Sugden, and Denise (Tim) Johnson: grandchildren Emily MaryJo Ericson: Sandrine Sammy Sugden and Bradley, Matthew Danny Johnson: siblings Nancy (Mike) Vezzuto, Anna (Joe) Canetti, Ralph (Yvonne) Galante, Linda (Jack) Webster: Aunt Antonette Pernice and many nieces and nephews.
