John Eric Foxworthy
John Eric Foxworthy, native of San Pedro, succumbed July 5th to a long battle with liver disease and complications of pneumonia, surrounded by his family - beloved wife Stacey and children Aaron, Natalie, Matthew, Andrew and Samantha. Born June 13, 1956 the third of seven children - Michael, Paula, Maryellen, Timothy, Stephen and Brian - John graduated from San Pedro High School, LA Harbor College and Loyola Marymount University School of Engineering and Science. A career public servant with the Army Corps of Engineers and the Port of Los Angeles, many of the Harbor's civil works projects of the last twenty-five years benefitted from John's technical expertise and tenacity, including the San Pedro Breakwater Repair, Pier 400, Main Channel Deepening, and the China Shipping Terminal, among others. A generous host, John's holiday prime ribs and tiramisu delighted family, friends and even a few firemen over the years. Equally comfortable in the outdoors, a youthful John enjoyed camping, hiking and fishing with his family and left few stones unturned in California, later venturing to, Baja, El Salvador, Alaska, England, and the Dalmatian coast, all with the same dark green REI backpack. We lost him too early and he will be sorely missed. The family welcomes all to a Memorial Mass at 10:00am Friday, July 11th at Holy Trinity Church. In lieu of flowers, they ask for donations in John's name to the California State Parks Foundation, http://www.calparks.org/ ways-to-give/.
