Lynn Widener Obituary
Erthel Lynn Widener died June 28, 2014 at 8:33 am in Bermuda Dunes, California. She died at home in her bed from complications of dementia. Her husband CD was her dedicated and loving primary caregiver till the end, and was there with her when she passed. She was 74 years old.
Lynn was born in Lepanto, Arkansas on December 29, 1939. Her birth parents, John Lewis Nichols and Gladys Marie Judkins Nichols of Dyess, Arkansas passed away when Lynn was young. She then moved to Torrance, California in 1954 when she was 13 to live with Ernie and Virginia Glover who raised her through High School and are still alive today, living in Canyon Country California.
Lynn was born into a large family. She is survived by 2 sisters and 5 brothers: Garnet Tippy of Judsonia Arkansas, Brenda Rust of Naples Florida, A.J. Nichols of Selmer Tennessee, Jerry Nichols of Judsonia Arkansas, Larry Nichols of West Plains Missouri, Buddy Nichols of Tullahoma Tennessee, Tommy Ramer of West Memphis Arkansas.
Lynn is also survived by her husband CD Widener of Bermuda Dunes California, Her Son David Widener of San Diego California, and Her Step Son Scott Widener of Huntington Beach California.
Lynn is preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Nichols of West Memphis Arkansas.
Lynn found a job at Hughes Aircraft as the lead receptionist where she was liked by all and was known for her fine and caring personality and ability to thrive in that very busy environment. CD, her future husband, met Lynn while he was making a sales call there, and it did not take too long until they were married and moved to Rancho Palos Verdes, where she had a full and happy life raising two children and caring for her husband and beautiful home. Lynn was an avid tennis player and was a member of the Rolling Hills Plaza Racquet Club and played in the competitive doubles league. She gained a special group of friends during this period of her life with whom she built close and loving friendships which have lasted until this day. She played tennis, travelled the world, went to the beach, cared for her husband and children, and had a wonderful life. Most any one that has known Lynn over the years would describe her as caring, friendly, fun loving, and hard working. Her close friends are loyal and devoted to her. Her family loves her very much.
