Lorenzo (Buttercup) Fiorentino

Larry Fiorentino (87), a lifelong resident of San Pedro passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2012. Larry's love of his life, Luella Fiorentino passed away three months ago, and he is now reunited with her. He is survived by his three children, Valentino Handel, Lawrence Fiorentino and Claudia (Fiorentino) Gutierrez; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren; his brother, Gerrard Fiorentino and his sister, Josephine (Fiorentino) Guarniero; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. At the young age of 8 Larry went fishing with the Portuguese fisherman, which led him to be a commercial fisherman for 3 decades. He served in the Navy, was also a Merchant Marine, worked at the fish markets on 22nd Street, worked 14 years on the tug boats (IBU) and as a Teamster working the banana docks for many years. During the 40's and 50's he built hot rods and would race at Bonneville and El Mirage, placing in the land speed records. He was a member of Rod Riders and Legends Car Club. He was an avid hunter, taking the kids starting at the age of 8 hunting, later with all his buddies from the Italian store (A-1), and he was a talented golfer placing in tournaments. Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at McNerney's Mortuary on November 9, 2012 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers a donation to LA Children's Hospital is requested.
