Raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, Mary was the middle daughter of three sisters, Mildred Provastgard and Betty Jean Starr. She also had three brothers, Benjamin, Jimmie, and Billy. The Slankards came to California in the 1940's and shortly after in 1943 she married Michael Gospich, barber, where they continued their life together in San Pedro. Mary will be now and forever missed. She had two sons, Randolf and Michael Gospich, now deceased. Her remaining family, daughters, Theresa Cromosini and Lisa Mannino; grandchildren, Ivan and Jennivere Gospich, Tyler Nelson, Adria and Matthew Cromosini, Marie and Michael Mannino, and her two great grandsons, Jaden and Julian Gospich. Mary was an active member of the church where she spent her life in prayer and using her powers that be for good and charitable work. She volunteered for a number of years at San Pedro Little Company of Mary Hospital in the chapel alongside Fr. Ivan and Fr. Christopher. She visited the sick all over town, bringing communion, hope and love to all who knew her. Mary also worked for several years as a school teacher for the handicapped at Willenberg School in San Pedro, CA and at Harbor City Elementary, she also taught Rainbows at Mary Star of the Sea Church for many years alongside her excursions wiith the handicapped "Going Out Group". Mary put her faith in God and lived her life as an avid Catholic and lover of life. She made everyone laugh with a quick joke and a smile. Mary will remain in our hearts forever as the matriarch to all her family and a lifelong friend to everyone she knew.
