Eileen Rose Ivers
February 28, 1933-February 26, 2013
Eileen Rose Ivers passed away on February 26 after a brief illness. Eileen Ivers was born to Harry and Alma Kline in Camden, New Jersey. She moved to Southern California as a child and attended St Michael's grade school, St Mary's Academy, and Mount Saint Mary's College where she was class valedictorian. She married William Ivers and together they raised 9 children in La Canada-Flintridge. Eileen worked for the rights of unborn children starting in the late 1960's and was very active in Conservative politics, helping her husband become a California State Assemblyman in 1978. She was Executive Secretary for Arizona Right to Life in the 1980's before retiring to Manhattan Beach. Eileen continued her political activism as Secretary to the California Republican Assembly. She is well remembered for her great love of the Catholic Faith, her wonderful sense of humor and her passion for educating people in the principles of good leadership. She is predeceased by her husband, brother Harry Kline, sister Carol (Charles) Ryan, sons William and Stephen. She is survived by her brother John Kline, sons James (Elaine) and Harry, daughters Maureen (Glen) Coughlin, Loraine (Ronald) Hoonhout, Marian (Tim) Hartzell, Jessica (John) Langley, and Sister Maria Basilea, SSSN, 29 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be Sunday at White and Day Mortuary, 3215 N. Sepulveda Blvd. from 1-5 pm. Rosary is Sunday at 7:00 pm, Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 10 am at American Martyrs Catholic Church, Manhattan Beach. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Opus Angelorum, Detroit MI.
