Francisca Palaroan Padua Dixon was surrounded by friends and family when she passed at home on April 11, 2013 at the age of 93. Born December 2, 1919 in La Union, Philippines, she moved to San Pedro 60 years ago to join her husband George. He died in 2002 after 65 years of marriage. Francisca is survived by eight children: Vivian (John Chapple), Anne (John Wolczanski), Pat 'Trish' Carpico (Joe), George (Esparanza), Gloria Sutton (Eric), John (Diane), James (Kathy), Lena Chien (Eric). Mrs Dixon is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, friends and pets. Heartfelt thanks to Zenaida Garcia, Roseng Eugenio and Rosa Mata for their ceaseless devotion and tender care of our Mom over the years. Besides her indefatigable dedication to nurturing her family, Francisca was a member of the Harbor Area Filipino Community Center and Ilocanisis, where she sat on various boards and served as an officer-tirelessly volunteering her time and fundraising prowess. In addition to her involvement in the local Filipino community, Francisca loved to cook traditional Filipino cuisine, always willing to serve guests with endless plates of chicken adobo, lumpia and pancit. She was also an avid gardener and would rise early each morning to water and tend her lush garden full of everything from plum trees to hundreds of orchids, which she spliced and bred into ever more exotic colors. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held Friday, April 19 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the Green Hills Memorial Chapel. The funeral Mass will occur on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with interment immediately following at Green Hills Memorial Park.
