Lewis B. Prulitsky

September 18, 1932 - August 31, 2013

Lewis passed away on August 31, 2013 in Long Beach with his daughters by his side. The family gratefully acknowledges the care he received from the V.A. Long Beach Medical Center, Dr. Rolland Jenkins and Cindy Gurly, RN, and the loving care from Shirley, his caregiver of at Evergreen Haven. Upon graduation from L.A. High School in 1949, Lewis enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. After a 30-year career with Western Airlines and Teamsters Local 2707, he volunteered his time with the Harbor Division of the Sheriff's Department, the South Bay Young Marines and the Beach Cities Health District. His daughters Terry Wilmot of Gardena, Dorie Prulitsky of Santa Barbara, and Debi Ballantine of Redondo Beach survive Lewis. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicole Gross, Jason and Andrea Wilmot, and Loni Babai; as well as his great-grandchildren, Kieran, Declan and Carly Babai, Karma Gross, and Jamison Gross (due November 1). Lewis was a simple and proud man who loved his family and cared about people and animals. A full military honors memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Lewis wished donations be made to the Veterans Administration or any animal rescue organization. Rest in peace, dad; we love you.
