Joseph (Joe) J. McNamee
In loving memory, the family of Joe McNamee is sad to advise his passing on December 25, 2013 in San Pedro, CA. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 21, 1922 to Frank and Anna (Roscoe) McNamee, he was the tenth of eleven children including Anna, Frank, Pete, Tom, William, Jack, Eleanor, Elizabeth, Genevieve and Winifred. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and served in the U.S. Army in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines during World War II. He married Eleanor M. Rogers of Greenfield on August 27, 1949 who went to Heaven on October 14, 2008 after 59 years of marriage. They lived in Monroeville, PA for 53 years until 2006 when they moved to Rancho Palos Verdes, CA to be with their daughter and her family. Joe retired in 1984 as an Operating Engineer Supervisor for Allegheny County, Department of Public Works. He was a proud member of Operating Engineers Local 66 for 65 years and a Life Member of the American Legion. Joe is survived by his loving children Lawrence (Loralee Horwedel), Dennis (Sandi) and Barbara (William) Bloch; grandchildren Trevor (Kait) and Bradley McNamee and Matthew and Michael Bloch; great-granddaughter Mikayla McNamee, his pride and joy; sister-in-law Virginia Rogers and many nieces and nephews.
A Viewing will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 2:30pm at the Little Sisters of the Poor, 2100 S. Western Ave, San Pedro, CA 90732. A Rosary Service will follow at 4:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:30am also at Little Sisters. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Donations may be made in Joe's name to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
