Carol R. Harris

Carol passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday December 25, 2013. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and came to the South Bay Area in 1945. She moved to San Pedro in 1948 where she met and married her husband Don Harris (previously deceased) in 1956. They raised three daughters, Dona Antich of San Pedro, Debbie Carolla (Mike) of Concord and Denise Marasigan of San Pedro. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, J.D. and Mindy Marasigan. She was preceded in death by their son, David John Harris. She is also survived by her sister Karen Minsky of Independence, KY. Her niece Loree LePage of Independence, Ky. Nephews Steven LePage of Laguna Beach and Harry (Shelly) Minsky of Huntington Beach. As well as great nieces and nephews Amanda LePage, Ashley LePage, Anthony Pesce, Travis LePage, Garrett Minsky, Kayla LePage, Mia LePage, Sarah Jane Minsky, and Taggert Minsky. Carol retired in 1989 from LAUSD where she started working as a temporary assistant and eventually became a secretary at Dana Jr High where she retired. She was a member of the Assistance League where she served as Chairman in 2000. Traveling, quilting, cooking and her grandchildren where her greatest pleasures in life. She was an active parishioner at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church where she formerly served as President of the Altar Society, coordinator of the RCIA Easter reception, and Fiesta Queen Committee Chair. She then became a Eucharistic minister and loved serving the Lord in this special way. A funeral mass will be offered on Friday January 3, 2014, at 10:30am at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park. The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Mary Star of the Sea High School memorial pledge at www.marystarhigh.com or via envelopes at the entrances of the Church.
