Frances Alonge passed away peacefully at her home in Harbor City on January 17th, 2014. She was 95 years young. Alfonsa Frances LaRocca Alonge was born on May 30th 1918 in New York City to parents Salvatore LaRocca and Fellipa Barbera. She and her two sisters Anna and Nina and her brother Joseph grew up during the Great Depression in New York. Frances worked during the day in the apparel factories and attended high school in the evenings. During this time she met and fell in love with Anthony Salvatore Alonge. They married in Brooklyn in 1940, moved to San Pedro California and gave birth to Domenick Anthony in 1943 and Victoria Ann in 1946. Frances became a bookkeeper for Custom Chair in Gardena where she worked for nearly 20 years. During this time she and husband Tony became very active in the Torrance Elks Lodge where she became Lady Elk President in 1965 and Tony rose to Exalted Ruler in 1969. Soon after Frances became a registered certified reflexologist and shared her healing powers with clients at her home and anywhere else the need arose. She also was very active with the M&M Jet Set at St. Margaret Mary Church in Lomita, Better Half Seniors of Holy Trinity, and Pecks Park Seniors of San Pedro. She is survived by daughter Victoria Ann Guy (Virgil Paine remarried Diane), grandsons Tony Paine (Christine) and Scott Paine, great grandsons Mason , Garrett, Jackson, other relatives, and many close friends. A vigil service will be held on Friday January 24th at 7pm at St Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Lomita. A funeral mass will be offered on Monday January 27th at 10am also at St Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Green Hills Mortuary. A reception will follow that at the Torrance Elks Lodge 1820 Abalone in Torrance. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Companion Hospice Foundation Of Southern California.
