Services have been scheduled for longtime San Pedran Roberta Bell, who died Jan. 27, 2014, at age 76, after a short illness. Bell, born April 24, 1937, in Royal Oak, Mich., was a graduate of Michigan State University. She was a copy editor at the News-Pilot and Daily Breeze from 1971 to 1998, then compiled the Harbor Area crime log for the Breeze until moving to Homer, Alaska, in 2012 with her daughter Kathy Ellis. Bell and her husband helped found the Harbor Free Clinic in San Pedro, and she was a longtime member of the San Pedro High Lady Boosters. She was predeceased by her husband, C.J., and daughter Patti Ellis. In addition to her daughter Kathy, she is survived by her daughter Debbie Bell of Torrance and sons Rob (Becky) Ellis of Torrance, Don (Kirsten) Bell of Rancho Palos Verdes and Chuck Bell of San Pedro, and nine grandchildren: Cody Ellis, Brooke, Zack, Derek and Blake Bell and Sean, Mark, Brian and Katie Ellis.
