PIQUA — Dorothy J. Vance, 89, of Piqua, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Brookdale Senior Living Sterling House of Piqua. She was born Feb. 7, 1925, in Shelby County to the late Walter L. and Elsie H. (Sloan) Rodehafer. She married Clarence W. Meyers on Dec. 1, 1946; he preceded her in death Sept. 23, 1974. She then married William Vance on Sept. 24, 1981; he preceded her in death Oct. 30, 1989.
Survivors include two sons, James W. (Ruth Ann) Meyers of Piqua and Gary Lee (Elaine) Meyers of Troy; two grandchildren, April Rose (Kristi) Meyers and Richard William Meyers and fiancé Nicole Dross-Rhoades; five great-grandchildren, Abbee Lynn, Alisha Marie, Ahna Leigh, Alyx Renee', Bailey; a step-granddaughter Michelle Crusoe; and two step-great grandchildren, Jazmyn and Dylan.
Mrs. Vance was a 1943 graduate of Sidney High School and was a wonderful homemaker all of her life. She had been an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical & Reformed Church and its Choir.
A service to honor her life will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Keith A. Gebhart and Chaplain Ivan Shawver co-officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Piqua Community Foundation, P.O. Box 226, Piqua, OH 45356 or the Piqua Salvation Army, 129 S. Wayne St., Piqua, OH 45356.
