Rose, Stephen Joe  
FLETCHER — Stephen Joe Rose, age 36, of Fletcher passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit, Troy. Born on June 25, 1980 in Troy, Stephen was the son of Terry J. and Jackie Rose of Fletcher. In addition to his parents he is survived by a sister Elizabeth Rose (Jeremy Moore) and her children: Damon, Andrew and Raven all of Fletcher, his maternal grandparents, Oran and Billie Thomas of Troy; his paternal step grandfather, Eugene Elsner of Fletcher, a special friend, Laura Moore and her children Matthew and Blaze, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Janet (Rose) Elsner and his paternal grandfather, Lloyd Rose. Stephen was a 2000 graduate of CTC and Miami East High School. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, St. Paris. Memorial funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in the Fletcher United Methodist Church, 201 S. Walnut Street, Fletcher, Ohio with Pastor Ken McDonald officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Fletcher Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday in the church. Memorial donations in Stephen's name may be made to Acute Myeloid Leukemia Fund #311829, James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, 460 W. 10th Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43210. Smith, Ercel Rozella  
PURVIS, Miss. — Ercel Rozella Smith, known by friends as Rose, and by family simply as MaMaw, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the Lamar Health Care facility in Purvis, Miss., surrounded by family and friends. Born Ercel Rozella Roberts, on July 16, 1931, in London, she married the love of her life, Marcum Smith on Dec. 27, 1948. Living and raising their four children in west central Ohio (Fletcher, Covington, and Piqua), Marcum and Rose moved to Summit, Miss. in Oct. of 2010. Rose was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Potts and one grandchild, Jennifer J. Smith. Survivors include her husband, Marcum Smith; her children, Rev. M.P. Smith and his wife, Kathy of Purvis, Miss.; Dan Smith and his wife, Cindy of McComb, Miss.; Peggy (Smith) Clark and her husband, Rev. Darrell Clark of Edna, Texas; and Judy (Smith) Duke and her husband Raymond Duke of Vandalia. Rose was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren. While living in Piqua, she was the activities director at The Heartland, Piqua, for many years. She was very talented in the arts of crafting, sewing, and gardening; but her greatest passion was her family. Rose and Marcum were members of the Piqua Apostolic Temple for many years transferring their membership to the First United Pentecostal Church of McComb. Visitation will be Thursday, June 30 at Jones Funeral Home in McComb, Miss. from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and continues Friday, July 1, from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in First United Pentecostal Church Cemetery. PIQUA — Mary Ann Whitney, age 84, of Piqua, Ohio, passed away on June 19, 2016. Preceded in death by her husband Charles C. Whitney, sister Doris Swickard, and brothers Loy, Roger and Richard Wilson. Survived by her children Rhonda (James) Brennan, Charles C. Whitney II and Linda K. Allison, grandchildren Abigail Allison, Jeffrey Allison and Ryan Whitney, sister Helen Cavendish, brother John Wilson, nieces, nephews and friends. The heart of the Whitney family, she will be greatly missed by all. Services and interment will be private.
